[Back to the dorms then, scanning his lil' ID and then just holding the door open. Wow! Sneaky.]

Now don't tell anyone about the exciting things you see in here, like . . . that chair or anything. We won't be able to beat back the throngs.

[Books. Books. Books. Going to look at the books. Pulling out anything that looks interesting.]

Just flopping himself onto one of the couches in the common area, putting his feet over the arm of it and getting comfy. Caleb can do whatever he likes with the books, this was the deal.]

[Most of these aren't really his taste, but he'll still grab a handful.]

Well you're in, might as well sit down.

[Gesturing around? There's chairs and couches. Also plants?]

I suppose no one is likely to come by and kick me out.

[Fine, he'll sit down.]

. . . How are you doing with everything, Mollymauk?

Watch out for that Rita, she's got an arm on her.

[He'd seemed all relaxed until, of all people, Caleb starts asking about feelings? It's an uncomfortable thing. He knows he's probably just being polite, but something about it sits like a rock in his stomach.]

Ehm. [He waffles, scratching at his chest.] Fine, I guess. Sure, the sudden displacement thing is unsettling, but what can you do about it? Not like I'm alone here at least.

[He can tell that put him off a little, but he wants to be able to ask.]

No. But, um, maybe your injuries are still troubling you? Or maybe it's odd with Beauregard and I remembering a little longer?

This isn't--

[He pulls the shirt and coat to the side a little, so he can see it. Since it's not too far off the center of his chest. It's still pretty gnarly, but scabbed over. Around the right size for a glaive blade, but twisted.]

It really isn't that bad. Think I got worse in the Victory Pit the other week.

It looks a little nasty to me. Have you found, uhm, anyone who can heal it a little, or treat it?

Sure. Fine. There's a doctor. Otome. I can have her look again if it'll make you both drop it.

[But he doesn't seem that irritated, just. Fed up.]

It's none of my business, really. Only making conversation.

[Scrubbing at his face with a hand for a second.]

. . . You don't have to apologize.

[Looking at him with a little bit of quiet concern, though.]

I'm the one making you uncomfortable.

What, no-- Told you I'm fine.

[He's clearly a little uncomfortable.]

Just, ah ... You've grown a beard. That's all.

Don't like it? Should I shave again? It grows in pretty quickly on me if I don't keep it up.

[He gets that the issue isn't whether he likes it.]

[Yeah the dodging right around it is real obvious there, bud. But, fine. If he wants to dodge, he can dodge.]

There's a guy who sleeps here who's got a big greatsword if you need a hand with it.

There's no chance he will have the dexterity and skill of our friend, though.

[He pauses for a long second, like he's trying to form words on something a little more serious.]

Um. . . Mollymauk, there is something -

[Just raising his eyebrows, leaning back in his chair. Waiting. Go ahead.]

[Uselessly, he's quiet again for a minute.]

You know, that fight with Lorenzo was pretty bad, but some of what came after was even worse. Not - not something to worry about, with our three missing friends, exactly. But it was hard. We saw some terrible things, and more than that, we had to sit with that feeling for a while that maybe we lost part of our group, and that feeling is going to shift your priorities for a while.

If Beauregard and I seem a little off to you, I hadn't considered it, but maybe some of what happened after that fight changed things a little. And you don't remember it, so it's strange to you?

[. . .] Well, for me, the only difference is they make me take baths now and I grew my beard back. But Beauregard, maybe neither you or I noticed, but ever since we lost those three she's been trying a lot. If you don't give her a hard time for it every time, I think you'll find it's a good change.

[headmt]

[ His eyes flicker back and forth a bit, still smiling easily and posture relaxed, but a hand stiffens on the arm of the chair. His tail swings a bit more. Trying to divine a fortune out of all of what he's just heard there. He doesn't like most of it.]

Yeah, I ... no, I can see that. [...] You keep saying-- [His mouth slams shut. No. Nevermind. His volition fails, falters in its step before he can form the question entirely.] S'the longest I've ever heard you speak, I think.

Is it? Maybe that's true, too.

. . . But now I'm giving you a hard time too, yeah?

[He huffs a little and shifts in his seat, tail coming up to curl around himself, adjusting again so his shirt covers the wound, kind of turning so he can look out the window instead.]

Alright, I won't-- I'll try not to be an asshole so much to you two. Don't want to do that anyway. Just this is the sort of place I'd be very insistent on leaving quickly and all. Funny looks everywhere. Know we can't do anything about that now.
