's an old tradition a friend of mine had. We - we're not really... I don't see him anymore. But he used to drag me all around town for fights and stuff, and then at the end of the day, he'd demand we grabbed these from the convenience store, and sit outside, and enjoy em. Enjoying life at the end of the day, or something - he'd make up a fake sutra or a saying or whatever from the Buddha about it, and it'd be different every time. I thought they were real, at first, but eventually I figured out he was pulling my leg.
...it was still a good thing, though. I've tried to keep it since. [ telling stories about kuko touches a part of ichiro that's an old, vulnerable wound, but... after everything that's happened here, maybe he can work up the courage to reach out to him again, for real. ] Always wanna hold onto stuff like that when I can, you know? I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I'm gonna hold onto about this place, even if like 95% of it sucked balls.
