... Do you remember everything? [she sounds sort of envious.]

Do you know who she is? Who I am?

[He suspects the answer is no still - some of the emptiness just wore off.]

[Mollymauk. Mollymauk? Weird name. I don’t know. I dont think I like it. What’s a better one ... ]

[Pausing, and then shaking his head at the questions though. But he reaches over to tap the card in Caleb’s chest pocket.]

Magician?

[you stop that right now

beau just gives caleb a concerned look.]

It is Caleb. But Magician is okay.

[You wanted to remember. Mollymauk. A little strange, but so are you.

He looks at Beau, gives her a little reassuring smile.]

Well that’s rude, calling me strange in your head.

[absently she just reaches over to rest a hand on caleb's arm, looking down at her notes.]

Could just call you strange to your face. [flips through the pages...] Or a dickhead. Apparently.

It is a good strange. [He says it in a light, mildly joking way, but his expression twists a little, uncomfortable.] We, uhm, are your friends. You cannot remember for the moment, but. . .

Oh. Dickhead seems right.

[He doesn’t seem THAT surprised by this. Unfortunately.]

Sorry, that happens to me sometimes. Sure it’ll come back to me soon.

At least I know I'm accurate with my notes. [she's a little amused by this.

she also sort of just. zones out for a second, staring down at said notes. poor caleb, he really is babysitting.]

[He really, really is. He keeps forgetting Beau is also headfucked for brief moments because she seems fairly normal.]

It will come back to both of you soon enough.

Well, sure, takes one to know one.

[WOW. This truly is babysitting. It’s going to devolve into baby fights. Anyway, it’s a little awkward because it’s sort of like being at a party with someone who’s sort of an acquaintance, but you don’t exactly know them. So you’re just kinda quiet for a bit.]

[her thoughts are just scribbles, for a second here.]

[Looking between both of them, frowning.

[Wow. Admiring the scribble thoughts! Exciting. And then he sort of perks up for a second, reaching over to poke Caleb in the chest.]

So, what, you both in the Carnival or something? Don't exactly look like Carnival people.

Absolutely the fuck not. You're the only clown here. [she says, absently, her thoughts clearing just a little.

a flicker: caleb. bren? no. caleb. molly. not lucien.]

[He actually flinches a little at that thought. He's only heard that name in Beau's voice once.]

Not the carnival. Though maybe it is good that you remember the carnival. Do you remember, um. . . traveling on the road without the carnival? Zadash, Alfield, Hupperdook?

[He thinks. And then keeps thinking. The thoughts are sorta like. ????????? so. That's not a GREAT sign.]

Um. Yeah, sure-- obviously. After I left the Carnival and all. Bit of adventuring and all. [He sniffs.] And then of course ending up here in the murder school. Got all that!

[a beat.]

He can't remember us. Any of us. [a little absently, running her finger over the rumor card.] ... Do you remember why you left the Carnival?

It's alright.

[. . .]

You are remembering now, Beauregard? [Sigh. Then maybe it is worth pushing after all.] We know you from that time, after the carnival. We traveled together.

Not really? Fight or something. These things happen.

[He just seems to sort of genially accept these things, in contrast to the freakouts happening. Can't have been that big of a deal if he doesn't remember at all, right?]

You sure? Pretty sure I was alone.

I - I think... [she just looks sort of angry, which isn't new. but she's so sick of being fucked with and being unable to reach her own godsdamned memories that it's practically leaking out of her.]

You weren't. You were with us. [she says, frowning. she holds at the edge of caleb's coat, gears turning in her head.] It was Nott and Caleb, and me and Jester and Fjord, and you and Yasha.

[rubs at her eyes with her free hand. yeah, she's remembering.]

[Softly - ]

That's right.

[And Caduceus, but maybe that's enough for now. Instead, he'll think of an image of Yasha.]

She's tall.

[That's his only thought about that!]

Guess you wouldn't be reading your notes right now even if you had taken them. [she says wryly, watching molly.

there's recognition in her expression, now. just like when she looks at caleb, tiredly.]
