[in jem's case, he's got no internal organs that can bleed so he forgives himself for letting the agoraphobia win.]

I plan on it, promise. Sorry you had to find everyone like that.

Well. It preyed upon my worst fears and insecurities and made me question if I can trust myself, let alone anyone else.

[mollymauk may detect a note of wonder, like jem did not consider such a thing could happen to him. and now it has. wowie.]

I remember it all, though. No haze.

It's a residual byproduct of the torture. By design, remembering it hurts while forgetting it hurts, too. Pretty clever.

[glances at him.]

Do you want an actual recounting of what happened or should I stick with broad strokes?

[if you can't beat 'em, appreciate their ingenuity.]

Sure. We woke up without memories in a cave system I don't know how far underground. After giving ourselves new names and finding these--[he indicates the astrolabe still hanging around his neck.]--we moved a big slab of rock that was blocking the exit. Behind that, we went to a series of rooms and tunnels where we were separated and made to relive unpleasant memories. One memory looped several times, worse each instance. Hated that.

Anyway, that wasn't even the last tunnel. In the end, we had the choice of returning to the cave system or crossing a river outside of it. I chose the river first on my own. The others must have, too.

[and then more time-magic nonsense spat jem out last]
