though, all cooped up close like this, it is easy to turn his head, ducking out of the way a bit to avoid bumping his nose too much, and press a kiss to his mouth. it's lingering, more familiar than the emotionally charged one of the day before, nice and easy. ]

[ a pause. gu yun glances away, at the wall across from them, and admits, quietly; ] ...It's the same for me, though.
[ there's really not a lot of time to go indulging about in the life of the marquis of order, period. there's definitely not a lot of time to go around kissing people, either. ]
[he isn't sure exactly why he's said it, except maybe for that exact reason. to shake his composure a bit, dig under his skin and see what he can shake loose. maybe something of a confession. a terrible thing he's done here: gotten very quickly attached to this idea.

i'm glad i met you, or i'm glad you're alive. maybe i can't stand the idea of you being that hurt. easy phrases to say, but they're not right - even if they're sincere, it's still not right, and the words stick somewhere behind his ribcage. for someone who can be utterly silver tongued, situations like this one feel impossible to tread, the emotion behind them way too big for his dog mouth to ever even spit out. he's not used to being sincere.

[molly has already hopped off the little bed quickly by the time that in a second, stopping in his tracks like a deer in headlights. Or whatever the high fantasy equivalent of that is. A celestial stag in the dancing lights. he may have started this emotional fist-fight, but he sure wasn't prepared to finish it, a problem he has had many times. and there's no large woman with a greatsword to fish him out of this one either.
he turns about three shades darker purple.
I'd like to keep it that way too. For all the things that spill out of his mouth without thinking about them for a godsdamned second, somehow a little phrase like that seems suddenly the hardest thing in the world. like he's just crawled out of another grave, having forgotten how to speak again, tongue too big for his mouth and brain too slow on the uptake to follow the words. I'd help knock over that lovely mom and pop owned bakery for all that it's worth and then run off into the night with you instantly, if you asked.
then he starts backing up towards the pod, hand gesturing wildly like, vanna white on mushrooms.]
The entire-- What does that even mean -- You're full of it, stop flirting for four seconds because I was joking about the one lung thing, I really will probably collapse halfway into it and then you'll be sorry -- I've got an appointment! [his accent is getting thicker the more into this panic he dives.] I've got to -- go get Wrath to make another of those marks on your smug face or something, that'll really distract everyone - jelly -- jelly fecking donuts! Shite!
[then he scrambles into the pod, winks brightly and slams it shut. so gu yun may be getting the feeling that was just the equivalent of a panicked that's awesomesauce and some fingerguns. good job.]
[ well. gu yun does miss molly's version of a flush, mostly because he's trying to also keep some semblance of his composure up until this moment, now that he's taken a walk out onto an emotional tightrope and has absolutely forgotten how to walk, suddenly. oh god. why did he say that? because he wanted to? right. yeah. yeah. he really. yeah. this is arguably the least smooth thing he's ever done in his entire life, but at least molly is. worse, somehow?
to his credit, gu yun holds it together through molly's really impressive panic (mostly because he's also trying not to panic and bolt in the opposite direction, face starting to turn a pretty fantastic shade of red) and then, when the door to the pod shuts there's a long, long pause.
and then, faintly, molly might hear a brief, almost hysterical peal of laughter as gu yun just flops over backwards on the stupid medbay bed and puts his face in his hands and just sort of stays there for way too long, flustered and vaguely horrified and really, really, really unfortunately fond. and panicked. and mortified. somewhere between all of those different emotions.
